My Thomas Crawford was born in 20 Feb 1807 in TN, he married Martha Reynolds and they came to Texas by 18304-5. It was then called the Republic of Mexico.
They had 3 children before getting here but one died. The area was called Nacogdoches Territory eventually and Thomas was one of three Commissioners to divided it up into 3-5 counties.
A cousin and I tend to believe that Thomas came west due t the fact he was married to a woman of Indian blood as the time he left TN they were rounding up the Native Americans and starting the drive of the Trail of Tears.
In the Nacogdoches county is a Jesse H and Hannah Crawford that is dna documented to our Thomas. Thomas was listed as their first born in a book by the club in Nacogdoches but a desendant denied it when I first started researching in 1970 but my cousin's dna and Kevan's dna proved they were from the same group, a group leading back to James and Elizabeth Engald or England Crawford. It's confusing to say the least as they name the children same names as other members. However, James was known to have Moses, Vineyard, James, Jesse, Thomas and John as sons. I have had a time in researching this line.
Martha Reynolds was the daughter of Isaac and Ann George Reynolds, George is known to be an Native American and we know for a fact that the family was political and it may not have been looked well on his marriage. Both were influential men
