A group of Clines and associated families lived in a German-speaking settlement in North Carolina, primarily in Lincoln and Catawba counties. Some of these families moved into Southeast Missouri; especially after Civil War. I found information in a book on this settlement by Lorena Shell Eaker published in 1994.
