Wiliam E Cline wife Nancy Jane Cline might be the couple. William could be James.

A group of Clines and associated families lived in a German-speaking settlement in North Carolina, primarily in Lincoln and Catawba counties. Some of these families moved into Southeast Missouri; especially after Civil War. I found information in a book on this settlement by Lorena Shell Eaker published in 1994. You might some clues in this source.
