Henry & Remembrance Tibbetts? Is this enough?

I set out to present an argument for deleting different, unsourced parents from duplicate profiles Henry Tibbets-68 and Henricus Tibbetts-30.

What I found was a third father, with a much better fit. Would you please read the section under Parents ? and tell me what you think.

I don't think there is enough evidence at this time to determine who his parents are. Even if there are only two indexed records that fit, it is very possible that his baptism record is not indexed or a record doesn't exist at all.

This is exactly the argument, I was preparing to make against Nicholas being the father.

I agree with Jamie. The baptismal records, while exciting, could be just a coincidence. Without something to link the English Tibbetts to the New Hampshire immigrants that's all you have. It might, however, be a good place to start looking.

Either way Nicholas has to go. The only question is if we have no parents at all or just this new set of parents. Either way we can discuss both options in the research notes.
I was thinking I would create a profile for father Robert (no wife) and either link to him or put him on with a not-confident. Parents not verified. If I add him as father with not-confident it has the advantage of linking Remembrance and Henry together.

Anne, Thank you for caring for the PGM profile of Henry Tibbetts. We need all the help we can get cleaning-up and sourcing the profiles of these great New England ancestors.

I double checked Anderson this morning and he does say origins unknown. So per PGM the existing parents should be removed since the only supporting evidence is a single bp record. In cases like this we should go with Anderson pending further research.

However, in light of this being a rare name and the fact that you have found two children known to be siblings bp together suggests to me that you are really onto something novel (Anderson supports the idea that Remembrance was his sister p 40 GM). I would support the parents you propose. However, the evidence and any doubts should be stated clearly in the biography so that researchers know that this is not a set of parents that has been documented yet by Anderson or more recent research until now. It might spark further research such as a probate record search.

My only pause is that he was a passenger on the James in 1635 and almost all of those passengers were from South England mostly from Salisbury, Wiltshire, Hampton, and Langford, Oxfordshire or they were from London. Moreover, his wife's family, the Austins were also from Hampshire.

We also need to remove all the children listed except for Samuel, Rebecca and Jeremiah. Henry is clearly not his son and I have no idea where the others came from.
I had noticed all those misplaced children and plan to get to them.

The wife Elizabeth Austin is not supported by Anderson either, so probably should be looked at farther. I didn't find anything about her in my brief cruise around.

Good insight about the ship.

Thanks Roland
I posted a note to all the profiles of the children that need to be removed and sent a PM to the profile manager of each of these same profiles. So let's give the admins a chance to respond. Maybe we could follow up if we don't hear back and remove them?

I noticed the same thing about his wife in Anderson. I don't have a copy of the Book RICHARD AUSTIN OF CHARLESTOWN, MASSACHUSETTS, 1638 by Jim and Liz Austin Carlin [https://familysearch.org/eng/library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=titledetails&titleno=816593&disp=Some+descendants+of+Richard+Austin+of+Ch]. It is supposedly very well sourced and the source may be in there. So you may want to post a new question on G2G to see if someone here has that book. It's possible the Austin Family Associate might be able to answer this question.Austin genealogy is a "big deal" for a lot of folks :)  If it isn't in Anderson or Carlin than it is probably just fiction.
Thanks Roland. One less thing to do.
Wait, my name is rare? This is news to me. LOL
