I would like to edit the Category "Tschechische Republik"

The category Europa (de) lists the English version for the Czech Republic. I would like to change that by adding a new category Tschechische Republik and add some information and also add the sub categories.

When I tried I was refused with refering to the supervisors. To whom must I address myself?

By the way with "Tschechische Republik" I only filled a gap in the Category Europa (de). Everything in there was German, except for Czech Republic. So I chose this for a test.

Blšany, okres Louny, Ústecký kraj, Ceske republika. Village, town, district, region, country is the layout the Czech categories follow.

The above template is for informational purposes and not for use at this time.

I don't follow your comment?!?!

My understanding is that Template lang-de is just a way to get consistent layout like the hatnote template I copied from wikipedia. In this case you get font-styleitalic; and an easy way to track all inbound links....

Best would be to have a template like Template:Czech-german_names that calls Template lang-de ==>

  1. you can track inbound links http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Whatlinkshere/  to all categories that have used
    Template:Czech-german_
    names ==> much more easier to administrate. We try to be structured in the SPC project but its a learning curve...

  2. you get consistent layout with other people using that lang template....
Today I feel we just speak about don't use CSS instead of speaking about good web design from a user perspective and also how to manage a website like wikitree if we starts to add information.....
I don't want people to misunderstand and think they can use it on a category. Template lang-de is a Wikipedia template. WikiTree doesn't have Template lang-de.

;-) Ok missed the point

My humble reflection: I think the risk that someone use a template by mistake at Wikitree is rather small...... the problem is more that we don't understand how stupid it is not using templates....

See the comment at unsourced how much better it would have been if everyone used the template {{Unsourced}} instead of adding categories by hand....

The argument that {{Unsourced|Czech_Republic}} is more complex than [[Category:Czech_Republic_Unsourced_Profiles]] hm... both are difficult is my opinion but if you would like to play you have to learn the syntax... or...

Maybe create easier templates like {{Czech_Unsourced}} that calls {{Unsourced}} with the argument Czech_Republic

<includeonly>{{Unsourced|Czech_Republic}}</noinclude>

Would be interesting to test if simplified templates without arguments works better like...

  • {{Czech_Unsourced}}
  • {{Czech_Brickwall}}
  • {{Czech_Research_Assistance}}
  • {{Czech->USA}}
  • ......
The only problem I have is a whole bunch of my Czech town categories were erased by Czech study people about 2 years ago and replaced by nothing. You'd think they would at least be working on it by now. It's frustrating doing all that category research and having it dismissed without a thanks or anything, just this is wrong we are doing it.

We need some better ways to work together.... I have also seen things happened that was not planned if it was me who was impossible to communicate with or some other reason.....

Also traceability is important that other people can track why and when something was done and if its part of a bigger project.....

Thanks Richard for bringing this to my attention.  I'm not sure which town categories were erased 2 years ago. Can you please provide some of the "deleted" category names?

It's hard to know a problem exists 2 years later without some type of communication.
Magnus, by all means please come up with some better ideas everyone can work with easily. I'm sure everyone would appreciate better and easier ways to work together.

I have been a Scrum Master and the simple answer was

  1. communication
  2. communication
  3. communication
  4. plus develop the team and believe in the team

We used

  • User stories
  • Daily meetings - 10 minutes just speaking what is the plan
  • Demos for stakeholders to get feedback if we delivered what they wanted or if the requirements had changed
  • Retrospective to see how we could work better....
My experience from Wiki is just some months at Wikitree and I feel we have much more challenges than I am used to......

Maybe some other people can share what works

I created the category, by adding it to my profile, so I could work on it. Once I figured out how it works I would have added in the correct chain of categories and removed it from my profile. This is as far as I have come.
I created the category...

Is this what you want?
Yes, perfect, now I work on it. Thank you!

Maybe we should have on all categories

  • the project(s) responsible
  • how to contact the team responsible for a category
  • and a rule that speak with team/project responsible before doing changes?

Michelle is found on http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Gerard-337
Maybe more info on Category:Czech_Republic

Thanks Helmut!
