For profiles on a watchlist less than 200 years old -- Is it possible to reset from Open to Public in mass without toggling each profile manually.

Also for a Public profile that ages into the 200-year threshold does the system automatically reset to open.

The system does not automatically reset the privacy of a profile that has aged to 200.  You'll have to check your own watchlist for that once a year.

To change multiple profile settings at once, pick one and go to the Privacy tab.  Right below the box that says "New Privacy Level," there's a link to the bulk privacy changes tool.  After you choose the profiles to change, at the bottom it will ask you for the new privacy level you want to apply.

Having said that, I hope you'll consider leaving deceased persons open.   In most cases, there's no reason not to, and it makes it so much easier for someone else to add a source or other info.

Thanks Nan,

I agree, perhaps my comment should be moved to a separate G2G but I wanted to support your comment.

I have been giving a lot of thought to what Collaborative Genealogy means on WikiTree.

One could say the profiles are gifts to the community, they belong to no one person, truly gifts of time and effort to the community and specifically made available for the community to improve and update.  That is what makes WikiTree work.

I recognize that Living People should be kept private if so desired and perhaps there may be good reason to keep Grandparents private under certain circumstances, but everyone else should remain open if we are truly emphasizing Collaboration.

I recognize also that profiles being worked on, such as those in Projects or those that have a personal interest may wish to have some degree of control while work is in progress but those profiles too, should be seen and reachable.
