Mesh, this doesn't answer your question, but it's worth mentioning in case you've not discovered it yet. On the upper left-hand side of your profile page, under the tabs, you'll see several widgets. One of them is an hour glass. If you've entered your data back to Pierre, Jan, and Suzanne, clicking the hour glass widget should display some of the information to which you're referring.
Debby, thanks for the reminder about the widgets. I hadn't fully explored them. My favorite is the Family Group View which I just discovered thanks to you. (It's one of my preferred ways for viewing a family.)

However, I do not see an hour glass widget. Please clarify. Thanks.

I wonder if you have to be in the DNA group to see the hour glass. It will display something like the following:

Direct Paternal (yDNA) Line

[private father (1910's - unknown)]
  James Andrew Barton (13 Mar 1889 - 23 Nov 1956)
    Andrew Jonathan Barton (21 Nov 1861 - 04 Sep 1914)
      Jonathan Marion Barton (26 Dec 1830 - 17 Apr 1910)
        Willis Barton (22 Sep 1803 - 04 Sep 1891)
          Unknown Barton (bef 1785 - )
            [G-G-G-G-G-Grandfather?]

Direct Maternal (mtDNA) Line

[private mother (unknown - unknown)]
  Nancy Viola Elizabeth Ward (1901 - )
    Samantha Jane Vaughn (02 Oct 1869 - 25 Nov 1949)
      Ruth Caroline Dodd (abt 1847 - )
Emily Ruth Anthony (abt 1813 - abt 1870)
          [G-G-G-G-Grandmother?]

Since the maternal line goes by direct female ancestors, it wouldn't lead to Pierre like Mesh wanted. Only the male line to Pierre will be shown. Still it's interesting to view.
Sorry, I didn't realize that Mesh was looking for a female-only line back up to Pierre. I thought Mesh meant that on both his(her?) father's and mother's line, the line could be traced back to Pierre. That's how I use paternal and maternal (paternal being my ancestry through my father's side; maternal being my ancestry -- both male and female -- through my mother's side).
Just to clarify, it's not an hourglass, it's a double helix (ie. a strand of DNA). :)
Ha! Thanks, Lianne. Looked like an hourglass to me. You learn all kinds of things on G2G. :)

Jillaine, we define paternal and maternal the same way. It's just that in the maternal example above, Pierre would never be mentioned because the data behind the double helix only shows a straight female line and a straight male line so the male line would end up with Pierre, but the female line would end up with his wife, or her mother, or her grandmother, depending upon how far back he can go in his ancestry.

Debby, Jillaine, and Lianne, I love you three.

By the way, it's on the to-do list to make those icons more noticeable, i.e. bigger on certain views.

Mesh, if you are on the Trusted List of each profile up the line from you to your oldest ancestor, then yes, you can go to your own profile page and select the pedigree widget, which is the first widget/graphic to the right of your name on the profile page. This will display a pedigree from you on back.

In your case there will be duplicates once you reach that part of the pedigree where both your maternal line and your paternal line are descended from the same people.
