Thanks Sandra, for  bringing this to everyone's attention.  However I'm reluctant to make the merge, because neither profile appears to have any sources for the information. other than Ancestry.com family trees.

Do you have any other sources for John Bates?  I guess I would particularly like to see something that identifies whether the Last Name at Birth (LNAB) should be Bate or Bates?  Something to confirm birth and death dates would also be useful.
