He is tagged as "the immigrant" because it is believed he was the first of the Hurt family to emigrate to America. You can search his children names & follow to modern times. He passed in the early 1700's in Virginia. It can be traced that his descendant spread from there into Kentucky, Tennessee,  Georgia & the Carolinas. My own paternal line has appeared in Virginia & the Carolinas. My paternal grandfather was Astor/Aster Hurt from the Richmond area.

My brother Steve's wife is a Hurt and the lines I've seen end with William "the elder" Hurt b 1680 VA. It'd probably be 2 generations (possibly 3) back to the William you're speaking of.  Is there a william you're aware of which would match?  I haven't gotten around to adding all of Steve's wife's line in yet but if there's a line that goes back further than I have, I might enter the rest of direct line in at least until it connects with what's already on WikiTree.

I see, looking at the Hurts here there are all of the necessary Hurts, but a couple of links don't exist.  I'll see if there is a surname group for the Hurts here or not.
