Hi James, I too have been looking around for this.  In 1985, I submitted a photo and in return received a plastic card with my name and a number on it. I still have the card.  In the early nineties, I visited and at a kiosk, typed in my name and my picture popped up.

Today I cannot find any information and I am very good at research.  I am going to keep trying.  Have you found anything?  Nancy

I submitted two photos in July of 1985.  Found the certificates a couple of months ago, and have been trying to find the information online myself.  If anyone comes up with anything, please let me know.
YES, you can find your pictures, here is who you write to. JJanis@Ellisisland.org,  I  wrote to her, gave her my information and they found it.  (5/1/2017) just so you know this info is recent.
Thank you! There are several “threads” online asking for this information, not a single one providing a promising answer. All those frustrated folks, some of whom inherited (from a deceased relative) a certificate from Kodak stating that a photo was submitted and would be “preserved for generations to come” at Liberty Island, will be so happy to hear this. I will try to recover my family photo and then pass this information along. Thank you from us all !

I tried to use this contact information to find details on my family photo that was submitted to the America's Family Album project by Kodak in 1985.  This is what I received back:   Jennifer Janis is no longer with Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Foundation. This mailbox is not actively being monitored. If this is urgent, please contact Jennifer Wright at JWright@libertyellisfoundation.org.                                                                      I am wondering if anyone else has found a way to get information about this collection and how to access it online?Obviously this isn't an emergency....but I would like to locate the photo.

Almost five-years-later follow-up -- with a potential answer!

Today, after one more e-mail, I got this immediate response:

Thank you for your inquiry.  The exhibit sponsored by Kodak in the 1980s The Family Album Database which was located in the museum at the base of the Statue of Liberty was severely damaged during Hurricane Sandy. It is not operational at this time, and we do not foresee it being operational in the future. However, we still have digital copies of the pictures. Please tell us who submitted the pictures and who was in them. We will then attempt to search our database and get a copy out to you.
