We actually got a live tree! It is only about 1 foot tall, but it is a Dwarf Alberta Spruce. I found some LED lights and someone gave us some small ornaments but decorating it is not my favorite thing to do because My hands break out and start swelling when I touch the needles. We will be planting it outside in a couple of months and should be able to enjoy it for years to come. I reached one of my goals for the year here, all of the profiles on my watch list have been edited in the last year. With the recent changes made here I should have no problem making at least one change to all of them in the next year but I hope to do deeper research into the one's most important to me and get them in much better shape. That being said I also plan to cut back here and renew some of my activities in some of my other hobbies like Ham Radio and Photography as well as travel more and spend time with the grandchildren.

I just saw that there are 7 genealogy programs starting in our local library in March, April, and May. I am going to check at least a couple of them out.
Merry Christmas Dale. I bought a live "table" tree in the grocery store last year. I don't think it's hardy here, so I set it on the floor by the deck doors and remembered to water it occasionally. It's still alive a year later and grew about six inches, so I'm using it again.
Congratulations on completing your goal, Dale.  I need to follow your example and set that as my New Year's resolution.
Star, set your own goals and do not follow mine. Mine were made for a selfish reason and I had to cut some corners to achieve it. Over the 2017 calendar year my goal is to reduce my watchlist even further by eliminating all profiles that are not direct ancestors or second cousins at the most when privacy allows and to add better quality information to all that are left.
Anne, My father bought this tree on our trip to Pennsylvania Tuesday and it will grow outside in our climate. it can reach a height of 8 feet but is very slow growing, it will take about 35 years to attain that height, and we plan on planting it in the yard this spring. there is also talk about getting another one next year, we will see, I still break out when touching the needles so I am trying to go a different route.
Merry Christmas Dale, wonderful you complete your goal, bet you feel good about that

Best wishes Susan

Greetings to all WikiTree members from sunny Florida!

It will be another quiet holiday for me. Most of my family, kids and grand kids, will be visiting other relations in different areas this weekend. So, I will be doing a solo act. :) Feeling a bit melancholy, missing my husband of 33 years. He passed 3 years ago. Also missing my folks, who are also gone now. I'll probably spend the weekend reading, listening to music, maybe do some research, write a bit and color, which is a favorite thing of mine to do.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you a very blessed and joyful holiday weekend. Merry Christmas!!

Pohutukawa tree, New Zealand

Harakoa Kirihimete

Merry Christmas to everyone on WikiTree, it's going to be a magnificent day to play some cricket with friends and have a BBQ on Christmas day.

What no twinkling lights? But, I could definitely reserve a spot at that picnic table. There's a cemetery nearby with a picnic table, but I'd have to shovel off the snow and melt the ice.
What a beautiful picnic spot!
Christmas lights are not common in New Zealand compared to other countries, about 6 houses in my town has them and everyone else says it's light pollution and rather see the night sky with the southern cross.
I had a white Christmas once when I was 4 years old, because we lived in central Otago high country, it snowed day before Christmas in the middle of summer. But where I live now, Oamaru doesn't even receive snow in the winter!

Merry Christmas Abby and Star.
Lovely pohutukawa, Campbell. As you know, it doesn't get dark in NZ until 9pm or later the further south you go. The need for Christmas lights is not so important as there's such a short time of darkness before everyone is in bed. Hope you've had a great Christmas and don't get too sunburnt.
great photo...

Just for fun, I thought I would look for Santa Claus in the census records.  When I found him in Missouri in 1930 and 1940, I created a WikiTree profile and asked if anyone could connect Santa to our family tree.  Carol Keeling connected him, so now we can say we're all connected to Santa.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Happy Hanukkah!

We're celebrating the first night of Hanukkah. The kids are all wired up because we decided to open all the gifts on the first night this year, instead of spreading them out over the eight days. The weather is beautiful at our house, it was 66 F earlier today : )

Happy Hanukkah, Kari! I hope your family enjoys every night of the holiday.

Christmas Greetings from Brightlingsea, Essex, England

It has been a busy day as I am delegated cook for the day. Cooking Roast Turkey meant an early start on lunch - 7.45am for lunch at 1.15pm.

Having a quiet day at home though it is my birthday today, which I tend to forget that it is my birthday.

Plan to spend a bit of time on Wikitree - i am keen to connect up my Jefferies profiles in Brightlingsea. So maybe have a look at this over the holiday.

Am finding this fascinating in particular the local connections I am finding. Though have plenty to do - also have photos on flickr.com and have a great many to add to my collection the

More next time ..........

All good wishes

Merry Christmas from sunny Massachusetts! The snow we had is nearly melted, but there is just enough here and there to make it seem Christmasy outdoors.

I'm still waiting for family to arrive, so I've been prepping food and tidying up a bit. I worked on adding profiles last night though!

So happy to have joined WT this year!
by Natalie Trott G2G Astronaut (1.4m points)

Merry Christmas, Natalie!  I'm glad there's at least a little snow for Christmas in Massachusetts.  There's no snow here in Washington, DC.

I reached my goal of 1000 contributions just in time for the holidays and even managed to edit a few of my profiles!

For Christmas, it will be a quiet year with my sons and I. Between two sons in college while they work full time and my illness, we are just glad to have the day to ourselves where we don't have any responsibilities.  So today is a day for no chores, no errands, no cooking!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays and may all your genealogy wishes come true!  Hold your loved ones close because they are the most important tangible part of Christmas.  Everything else is just stuff.
by Emma MacBeath G2G Astronaut (1.3m points)
Thank you for the wonderful wishes and the words of wisdom, Emma. Glad to hear that you and your sons are spending some quality time together. Merry Christmas to all of you!
Thank you Star!
A merry Christmas to you too, hope you will have and amazing 2017

Best wishes Susan
