Best way to incorporate text from an obituary in multiple profiles?

I have an obituary that contains important material for sourcing in several different profiles.  Would your recommend repeating the information in the different profiles or just posting under the deceased and then just reference that profile in the others?

I know it might be difficult however I would probably spell it out in each profile so it more simple for others to follow.

Hello, M!

I agree with Steven for the case you describe. You may be adding different sections of the obituary anyway, so just quote (properly!) or reword the relevant information related to each profile.

You may want to follow up (or perhaps do this first) that with a free-space, as Ruben recommends, quoting or linking to the full obituary, if possible. You could then cite/link each quote/excerpt to the free-space (as well as the online source, if any).

If the image is not from a copyrighted source you can make an image of it and attach it.  Then attach the various people to the image.

If it is copyrighted you can copy the info into a Word file and then copy and paste it into each of the bio sections.

You can put a note referring people to another person which is easier for you but harder for the person doing research.  Which may also be ok as they may want to see other member of the family.

I think it is really a personal preference.  As a user I would like to see the pertinent info on each page since copy and paste is a fast function.

As Laura says, be mindful of the copyright issue.

That's why I recommend rewording the information as your first option.

Although Copy/Paste is an easy and fast process, if you find you made a mistake when typing the text you copied you'll have to fix the mistake on each profile you copied the text.

You can create a Free-Space Profile with the text and then cite the link to the Free-Space Profile on each one of the involved profiles.

Typically an obituary gives a lot of details about the deceased - but only has a short entry listing living and pre-deceased family members. I have started including the entire text of the obit on the deceased person's profile, then include just the pertinent data about the children, spouse, parents, etc. on each of their profile's with a link to the deceased person's profile (to make access quicker and easier). This way the info of interest about the person at hand is included without all the extra text - but with a link to the full obit for those who are interested.  Example: profile of Gardner Sloat lists his data from the obits of his brother Ivan and of his mother Agnes.
