What steps should I take to add a new Coast Guard ship name as a new subcategory under World War II Coast Guard ships?

I don't quite understand yet how to add new subcategories so that they show up under the correct category. I want to add the USCGC Alexander Hamilton (WPG-34) to the list of U.S. Coast Guard ships in World War II. I've added the category to my great-uncle's profile and it shows up red. What are the next steps needed to create this new subcategory?

Also, is there a separate category for ships (such as this one) that was attacked during World War II?

Thanks for your help,

have not made it down to renaming the United Coast Guard Ships to the new standards...

for WW II service, it should be

[[Category: USCGC Alexander Hamilton (WPG-34), United States Coast Guard, World War II]]  and linked to [[Category: United States Coast Guard Ships in World War II]]

then there should be [[Category: USCGC Alexander Hamilton (WPG-34), United States Coast Guard]]  and linked to [[Category: US Coast Guard Ships]]   (which will end up being renamed to United States Coast Guard Ships)

to tie them together, the WW II category should have in its text

* See [[:Category: USCGC Alexander Hamilton (WPG-34), United States Coast Guard | USCGC Alexander Hamilton (WPG-34)]] for the primary category.

and the main, non-conflict category should have in its text

* See [[:Category: USCGC Alexander Hamilton (WPG-34), United States Coast Guard, World War II | USCGC Alexander Hamilton (WPG-34)]] for service and personnel in World War II

once i get the time, all the other existing ships will be renamed/created and follow this same, standard format..
