Just saying "Hello". I'm new here.

Question

My name is Leslie. I am 28, married, one little girl, two dogs, and I love finding interesting stories about my ancestors. One favorite one is my great (6th) grandfather was a Sergeant under Patrick Henry in the Revolutionary War.

 I have been working on my family tree for about 5 years now. I am 7 people short of having all my ancestors to my 4th great grandparents. But luckily, I have expanded other family trees up to my 7th or 8th great grandparents. I am here to expand my tree by adding my ancestors, and hoping to share some ancestors with unknown family on here. Hopefully by my volunteering to help others, in turn, it helps me. Tags are of my grandparents of who I am researching.

Welcome Leslie!  I hope you have a good time here and stay around and help build out the tree.  You'll find there's a fairly steep learning curve here, but there's lots of people to help if you get stuck and after a while everything will be smooth.  I always suggest that newcomers spend as mjuch time as they can spare reading the help files. You'll learn a lot and probably find a lot of questions you can ask here on G2G.

Thank you! I've got my grandparents on my tree. So I am working on this slowly. I need to learn more about this website before I add any more. So I need to jump on the help files!

Welcome Leslie, it's great to have you here! I see you have entered the profile for your daughter and made it "unlisted" which is appropriate. Just be aware that when you start entering profiles for those no longer living to be careful with their privacy settings. If they are not "open" other collaborators cannot make changes or connections if that is what you want.  Again, great to have you here!

I know this probably is not what most people would do, but I would like to talk to someone before they have a right to change my tree. Hopefully, this doesn't sound mean! I don't mean it that way, just want to know their facts, before I jump in and believe them. :)
