WikiTree profile: Johannes Warde
in Genealogy Help by Judy Byrum G2G1 (1.2k points)

His profile says he was born in Brawinston, England. As far as I am aware, or can find, there is no such place.

I suspect that this can got mistranslated from Braunston or Braunston-in-Rutland which given the other location of Rutland is the most likely place. Not difficult speechwise to move from Braunston to Brawinston

No records found for Name: Johannes Edward Warde, Event: Any, Place: Braunston, Event Range: 1550-1650, Spouse Name: Maria Hatton, Country:England

Edit to add: Having looked at some other profiles I think personally that Johannes moving to London and marrying Mary / Maria may be OK but unless they were on the move to Liverpool and a port I think it unlikely that, if William is their son, he was born in Warrington. People just did not move around that much.

I may be completely wrong on this next point but I thought that most of the early emigrants left from port like Southampton, Plymouth etc.

Hi Judy. I have spent a wet afternoon going through some of the errors connected to that profile but it is fraught with difficulty as these early profiles have no discernable sources other than references to Ancestry, Geni etc which for the most part tend to be unreliable or at worst fictitious. This is not a new problem as is noted on (Sir) Richard Ward's profile as he was not a Sir and his wife did not exist - a fraud perpetrated in the early days of genealogy. I can find, so far, no sources for any of those early profiles that are extracted and only one or two, literally , which are ODM and therefore also potentially unreliable.

Some of the errors such as differences in dates between WikiTree and FindAGrave are also impossible to resolve as neither show solid, or any, sources.

Since you are not a profile manager on many of these profiles connected to you I would not worry too much about it. New records come on line all the time and the DB errors people beaver away in the background so eventually between them and the profile managers things should get sorted eventually. I have made a note to look again when I have a spare moment.

Thank you so much.  I am a beginner and this was in my ERRORS file.  I did not know where to start.  I want to correct any errors that I have.
