It is very frustrating! I've never been to England, I have know clue how to figure out who his parents were? I don't have a clue .. I consider myself not to bad at finding a lot of records but this has me stumped! Its not the only one but its the surname I started out to trace in the first place before I got addicted to genealogy ....grrr! Can anybody help? Ward20443

Upwell is quite a distance from his marriage location of Little frampton, and from where his children were born in Swaffham!
Thanks, Ill have to check out all of these suggestions...

For some reason I can't copy and paste today, joys of my tablet!

The most geographically likely John Ward out of a number who are the right age to have married in 1828 is this one:

Born: East Dereham 1st Dec 1803, baptised 3rd Dec 1803 to Henry Ward and Elizabeth Davy.

Little Fransham is in Dereham. All the others seem a little too far away..... However it is all speculation, you may struggle to find more unless you can dig up some more sources for eldest child Isaac.

Im going to have to check out a few suggestions.. His second sonI have tons of info on, his third son was my greatgrandfather x2 and have tons of info on him as well.. I cant find anything on their travels or exactly when and why they left England, but the next child in that line was born in Quebec... everything from that point wasnt to hard to discover.. well alot of it anyhow. thanks...

Marriages can be misleading as they often take place in the bride's parish.

Sometimes the register will say if one party is an outsider.  But sometimes they lied.

I don't see any Sheppards in Little Fransham, but there's evidence of a Ward family.  A William Ward married Sarah Reeve there in 1800.  They had a Harriet, who died, and a Thomas, and another Harriet, with big gaps.  They could well have had other kids who weren't registered.

The 2nd Harriet married there, suggesting that they lived there the whole time.

A David Ward married a Powley there in 1824, but he could be a stray as his bride was local, there were loads of Powleys.  However, he stayed around to have kids, described as a husbandman.

Could be impossible to prove or disprove that John belonged to that family.
