Somewhere someone gave me some information but now I have no clue where to find it so I’m asking again for siblings or parents of Alford Franklin Buxton. If anyone can help me find this information I’d greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

It would make sense to first find sources for his children.  Good luck!
Vincent, I am not certain what you mean about first finding sources for his children! Please explain to me, thank you

Nancy Lea

Hi Nancy, I saw your reply to this post and thought I would take a look.

When your grandfather married in Caldwell County, Missouri, Frank was described as being from Nettleton, Missouri.  there was a Buxton family very close by in New York, Missouri, with parents John Wylie Buxton (b. April 1825 in Pennsylvania) and Nancy Buxton (b. March 1827 in Pennsylvania)

The individuals are the correct age to be Frank's parents and are consistent with the parents of Frank being reported as born in Pennsylvania in the later censuses.  Additionally, Frank's first son was John W Buxton, whose middle initial is consistent with John above, and could possibly be named after him.

Unfortunately, none of the censuses for John and Nancy seem to include Frank, and I would especially expect the 1870 to do so.

I really appreciate this and wondered where you found the info? I have been searching for over 15 years when my dad said he never knew his grandparents. I tried very hard before he passed in 2012 to get information but I don’t know where to look. I have asked many many times and my cousin twice removed did the make DNA and came up with nothing new, just some cousins he already knew of.
I’d appreciate if you tell me how to search and what else I can do to see if this info is indeed correct. It seems like it would be but I like to have proof. Is there any information on Nancy’s last name before she was a Buxton? My name comes from my mother’s mother. It would be really neat to find out just a little more and where I could find it to share with other family.
Appreciate all your hard work.
This means a lot to me and makes me so happy if indeed it is my great grandparents.
Thank you again

I found the family by searching on familysearch.com for anyone named Buxton in Caldwell County, Missouri.  According to a linked tree there, Nancy's LNAB was Noah.

I should stress that I do not believe what I have found constitutes any sort of proof that Alford Franklin Buxton's parents were John W and Nancy; they just happened to be in the right places at the right times to be strong candidates.  Finding Alford on the 1870 or 1880 censuses would be very revealing.

Thank you so much, I’m sharing it with my cousins to see if they have heard of anything or found anything with John W. and Nancy Noah.

Thank you, it’s a possibility and I really appreciate this. I’ll look into it further to see what I find.

John W. Buxton Alford’s son, was in Prison in Oklahoma for killing a man about corded wood. We have transcripts of the trial and such but it doesn’t help in our family tree.

Appreciate you looking, thank you again. I’ve searched every site I could find, family search is also one that my cousins and I use, we’ve never seen this info.

My dad always told us he was Black Dutch, and I found out that is German. Maybe my grandparents are from Germany?

Where could I search for info on him if he was German?

Thank you

Unfortunately, I cannot find any trace of your grandfather prior to 1900. This might indicate he either changed his name at some point or he was raised under a different name due to a foster situation or his mother's remarriage. I'll search a bit more but it doesn't look promising at the moment.

Thank you so much Deb. I’m stuck, very disappointed with myself for not getting this all together years ago even though my grandfather died in 1939, I think more older relatives were still alive and could give me information of some kind. Thank you fo4 your efforts, I really appreciate it.

You have no idea how helpful you’ve been even though we can get past 1900. I’m determined to find something about his siblings or parents. They all came from Pennsylvania according to 1900 census. Is there any documentation that would give an address, like my fathers birth certificate? I am going to send away that info and then also I’d like to try to find a marriage certificate for Ina and Alford, my grandparents. A family member states it was 1920 in Burkburnett Texas. We have nothing to show. I’m still plugging away at anything I can to find something about him. I really appreciate your efforts. Thanks,  Nancy Lea
Deb I really appreciate your efforts in helping me find my great grandparents. I would love to know which way to go in searching a different avenue but where do you start? I’m sending away for his birth certificate to see if that will help me out. Appreciate you so much

Thanks
