How do I add 'thank ... for this' or 'send ... a message' under the Comments box?

We don't see those links for comments we post ourselves.  We only see those links for comments others post.  I can thank there's or reply to others' comments, but I cannot thank myself or reply to myself.

Is that to protect our appearance of sanity by preventing us from talking to ourselves?
