I am looking for help with finding parents of Joshua Teague, who migrated from Guilford Co., NC with his family, first stopping in Preble Co., OH and eventually ending up in Indiana. Any info on what Teague line he is connected to, and how, would be most appreciated!

Son M.A. is mentioned in History of Madison Co Indiana pg 137 (and a later citation) https://archive.org/details/historymadisonc00hardgoog/page/n136 but Joshua does not seem to be. There are often several different of these late 19th century histories or biographical sketches of citizens for a particular county and they often given brief family histories. Worth checking for others for Madison IN and Preble OH (he does not appear in the one I checked for Preble).

Did you decipher if he was Quaker? He does not seem to appear in Hinshaw's Encyclopedia from a basic search of it and those records on Guilford are rather complete.

I might suggest checking descendants of Elijah Teague and see if something connects. I notice that his son Joshua's profile is very incomplete. Elijah is the source for many of the NC Teague families.

Thanks, T! I also haven't found much in Quaker records from that area so far. I'm hesitant about the Joshua Teague of this particular Elijah because of dates. I've updated my Joshua Teague's profile with a Research Notes section listing what we know so far.

Hi Robert,

I believe I have found Joshua’s parents and sibs along with birth and death dates. According to family tree Joshua was born circa 1774. Now I know that the dates are way off but everything else matches including wife and kids names.

Eleanor Simonson (b) circa 1735 Union township In. (d) 1/14/1802 Redell North Carolina

William Able Teague (b) 7/30/1733 Saint Mary Anne’s North Carolina (d) 11/1/1803 Statesville, Iredell North Carolina.

I really hope this info is correct if you need anymore info pls contact me at Teaguefamilygenealogy@yahoo.com.

Best wishes

Eleanor's maiden name was Simington,    https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Simonton-32

I've seen her name as Symington and Simonton but never as Simonson.

Thanks, Shanan! I'm not sure about this particular lineage because of the dates. I've updated my Joshua Teague's profile with a Research Notes section listing what we know of far.

Robert, if you haven't yet I'd contact any and all Guilford County local orgs that could help you with on the ground research.

Guilford County Genealogical Society has a page on Facebook (I don't so can't give you the link) or I think the same folk are here http://sites.rootsweb.com/~ncgcgs/

http://ncgenweb.us/nc/guilford/court-land-records/

There are probably others as well.
