Aaw thank you David and everyone ! I so enjoy and love all projects, and  the Dutch Roots Projects has such a wonderful and also very dedicated team, and so many just as wonderful and dedicated members, it makes it all so worthwhile and so much fun, because together we all really can move mountains eeh !

The biggest mountain I ever saw in Nederland was an overpass on the highway.
I didn’t see any either so I sent her that one from the Smoky Mountains in North Carolina!!

Hahaha well we have a few little ones in the Netherlands (this is the top ten). Here's a short movie of the highest one the Vaalserberg and here's the smallest ''mountain'' the Hasseberg in Groningen...not much going on there for sure wink

And here are some Dutch ghosthunters investigating the Tankenberg

But..Dutch wouldn't be Dutch if they didn't build or create stuff eeh, new islands, and yes even mountains are things some were dreaming of ...

Oh that’s beautiful!! Thanks for sharing that. I never visited that part. The people there are so kind and good. I recall being on Scheveningen beach and not being able to say it and someone explaining how it was used as a shibboleth during the war.

Yes the Netherlands is or can be wonderful eeh, the one from the photo is just how they pictured the new to build mountain of course, but it probably is never going to happen because according the article it would be way too expensive to build one.

And had to look up the word shibboleth winkand it's really very interesting and the person who told you was right, (a shibboleth is sort of a 'password') and the word 'Scheveningen' was used to figure out if someone was actually a German or really Dutch and reading the examples the Fries example probably is one of the most famous:

Bûter, brea, en griene tsiis; wa't dat net sizze kin, is gjin oprjochte Fries (About this soundexample ) means "Butter, rye bread and green cheese, whoever cannot say that is not a genuine Frisian" was used by the Frisian Pier Gerlofs Donia during a Frisian rebellion (1515–1523). Ships whose crew could not pronounce this properly were usually plundered and soldiers who could not were beheaded by Donia himself.

It's really awesome how much we all learn about not only our families but also about the world and History here at WikiTree eeh. heart
