Data Suggestion 931 -- Project Box without Project Account

I have numerous data suggestions on Burdge profiles that suggest they have the project box but aren't managed by the project (New Netherland Settler & New Netherland Descendant).  Since I've looked at the profiles and all are managed by the correct project (and have been for quite some time), I'm unsure about why this error has come up.

David Burdge-181, Phoebe Cooper (Burdge-182), Jonathan Burdge-184 -- other examples.

Any possible fixes or should I mark these as false suggestions?

I definitely spent a while correcting my list based on this data suggestion.

I'm going to wait and see whether they stay on the suggestion list this next week.  Of course, if anyone sees something amiss that can easily be corrected -- feel free to point out the problem. smiley

It is my understanding that unless the project is a manager of the profile the project box should not be used, you should add the project sticker instead so this is not a False Error and should not be marked as such. To fix it change the project box to a sticker unless the project really wants to manage the profile.

See the project page for more information, https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:New_Netherland_Settlers
I don't know why the suggestion is popping up if the project is a manager but in that case I would say it is a False Error but there could be another reason for this suggestion as a lot is changing with project boxes and stickers at this time.
I believe this is an instance where EditBot added the project account to the profile after the Suggestions Report was generated. (I had requested the edits several days earlier.)
Thanks Ellen, Thanks Dale.  I think I'll just wait and watch the suggestions later this week to see if it's still there.

Sometimes project boxes are added to a profile without the project account. Maybe the person who added the project box wasn't a profile manager so they couldn't add the project account themselves, and the Project Leader hasn't gotten around to reviewing the profile and adding (or not adding) the project account. (Note that Project Leaders find out about these situations from the Data Doctors report, same as other members.) Or maybe it's a profile that is waiting to be merged with another profile that's managed by the project account, and the project leader hasn't wanted to take the time to manage both profiles. There are other possible reasons. Please don't assume that the absence of a project means that you must immediately remove the project box.

The profile you refer to has the project account on it. Are there others you are concerned about?

PS - I am the current project leader for New Netherland Settlers.

Thanks for looking Ellen.  The profiles are all New Netherland Settlers or Descendants and all have both the project box and project manager listed and on the trusted list.  As I replied to Dale's answer, I'm just going to wait and see if the "suggestion" goes away.  I couldn't access the report earlier today to see if anyone had commented or marked the error this week.

Ellen,

These "suggestions" are also (partly) due to subsequent rule changes:

 • First it is decided that is to be replaced by (EditBot updates like this one)
 • Followed by Project Box needs Project profile as manager (or change to Project Sticker)

I have the same suggestion showing up for Frymuth-1 but in this case I am still the only profile manager.  I did request a merge between Frymuth-1 and Fryenmuth-1 but instead received the PPP box and merge is still pending.  Hence an additional suggestion that Van_Etten-483 has multiple marriages same day. How can I remove the project box since there is no project as profile manager? Or is this an error? And how can I get the merge completed?

Oh, aargh! These data doctor suggestions are creating a  climate in which templates and project accounts are treated as more important than genealogy. If the suggestions report gives you a compulsion to urgently request that another person (such as a Leader) take action so you will have a clean report, it's time to quit looking at the report.

Freyenmoet (there are numerous spellings) has two profiles with different LNABs. They need to be merged (that's what the two marriages error is about), but first they need better genealogy, to include a full set of variant spellings for his name. As a Reformed Church domine, he's an interesting figure in New Netherland history, and there is a good bit of published biographical material about him that needs to be reflected in Wikitree. He needs PPP to avoid merging to a new LNAB and the changing the name again, but the project boxes and project accounts are scrambled due to his being a New Netherlander who doesn't fit the project scope because he arrived after 1700.

Good genealogy is what's needed here.
Okay, thanks for this information.  On Frymuth-1 I have added a lengthy list of publications in the source and the variations in spellings as well as listed the alternate spellings on his profile. I will post comments on it on his profile rather than here.
