I've spent a lot of time entering names associated with Cornwall and yet didn't have a true feel for the place, so I went digging for some finer detail. If a branch of your family comes from that county, I can recommend a newly released book by the Gutenburg Project called Excursions in the County of Cornwall
It was written in 1824 by F. W. L. Stockdale, author of "Antiquities of Kent" and other fine books.
Thank you for posting the information about this book. More information and links can be found here: Excursions In The County of Cornwall.
I didn't read it, but there is a chapter called "Description of the Mines in Cornwall". This reminds me of the Poldark book and TV series.
Many, though not all of the outdoor location scenes were filmed in Cornwall https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/nbVFGmB7lFVmJJKpjrCQV/poldarks-cornwall-locations.
There is some absolutely glorious scenery but the mining and especially the china clay industry left their scars on the landscape (plus associated areas of urban development with the streets of terraced housing necessary for the workers ) http://www.historic-cornwall.org.uk/flyingpast/white.html
