I don't suppose anyone has this book?

I was told my ancestor's sister was mentioned in the book and was curious if any more of her family was...

Probably.  I am!  The Tuscaloosa Historical Commission apparently has a copy at the West Alabama Heritage Center (http://www.westalabamaheritage.org/genealogy-books/).  I emailed them an hour or two ago about locating a copy.  You're probably about as close as I am, so I don't know if anything I turn up would help either of us.

No but the Birmingham public library seems to have every book I would ever want :)

My 4th great grandparents are James and Amanda Mills. Are you related somehow.
by Warren Whitby G2G2 (2.8k points)
Yes!! I am related to Amanda Smith Mills through her sister, Annie D Smith Holman. I am searching SO HARD for Amanda and Annie's parents. Do you have any ideas? This is my biggest brick wall so far.

On Annie's death certificate it lists James R Smith and _____ Mathews but I have not been able to get anywhere with that...

Any guidance you may have would be truly appreciated!

Amanda Smith, wife of Captain James Mills?  Yeah we got that reasonably well documented and cited.  I haven't been able to work my way up to putting well-sourced links in the pages here yet.

Check what's been put together on familysearch so far.  https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LJLW-NPQ  It needs better sussing out and clear documenting, but I think it's reasonably defensible at this state.

I believe he is cousin to my presumed great great grandfather James Harvey Mills https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Mills-11346 sharing the same grandfather James Absolom Mills https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Mills-11345

Don't take any of that as certain.  I'm going by a bunch of records that might not be as well cited as could be desired.

Better answer than the one I made previously.  The Tuscaloosa Genealogical Society apparently saved the records before a fire and that contributed to the book.  The book and many other records are available at http://seventhfloorrecords.com/pioneers_tuscaloosa.htm  That might help your research.
