Cemetery Challenge: Halfway Point Update!

Question

We've reached the halfway point of the September 2014 Tombstone Photo Challenge! So, here are a few stats about the challenge so far:

Who's on track to win a badge?

Currently in the lead for overall count and United States: Martha Riley with 1199 tombstones photographed! Yay Martha!

Currently in the lead for Canada: Me! C'mon, fellow Canadians! Step it up! :)

Currently in the lead for most cemeteries completed: Susan Tye with 1 cemetery completely photographed!

How much have we contributed to the project so far?

Total cemeteries visited: 18 cemeteries, located in 4 states and 1 province

Total tombstones photographed: 2753

Can you still join?

Yes!! There are still over 2 weeks left in the month, and every tombstone counts!

I just spent this afternoon photoing a cemetery of over 300 markers, I was a little over half way done, when I reached a marker that had flowers in front of it.  Of course I had to move the flowers from in front, but when I did, little did I know that a swarm of ground bees had taken up residence under the said pot of flowers!  So just an FYI for all you photographers out there,  BE CAREFULL OF ALL CRITTERS! I for one don't want to hear of any human stings or bee casualties!  Happy hunting everyone!

Oh and on a side note, I didn't get stung!  I just waited until the bees had calmed down before going back to that area!

Yikes! That's terrifying. The worst I've had to deal with when nudging bouquets our of my way is huge swarms of tiny flies, which is a pretty gross experience, but not as scary as bees. I'm glad you weren't stung!

Wow!!! 1199!!  That's crazy!

I've snapped a few pictures, but my time has been limited. Can you point me to the instructions on how to add the ones I have to the tally? I can at least do that much. :)

Yeah, I have been kind of crazy about doing this. Sorry! I took a weekend trip with my husband to visit cemeteries where relatives are buried, and while I was there I ended up photographing the entire cemeteries. (Much to his frustration.) They weren't that big, but it added up!

Martha, I bow to you!!  That's really impressive -- not just that you photographed them, but that you convinced your husband to wait for you! hehehe

Haha! I, too, have a husband who attempts patience while I photograph an entire cemetery. I just always remind him to bring a book if I know we'll be stopping at one. :)

I haven't taken mine with me, yet. I'm not sure how that would go!
