Hampden Sidney Beatie [1] was born on 31 Dec 1826 in Glade Spring, Washington County, Virginia, the son of Josiah Nichol and Eleanor Rogers White Beatie.[2]
Hampden Sidney Beatie, Sr.
He moved to Utah in September 1849.[3] and became a lieutenant-colonel in the Utah militia.[4]
He also served as county coroner after 1850 in Salt Lake County.[5]
On 7 January 1872 his son W.J. Beatie married a daughter, Phoebe L. Young, of Mormon leader Brigham Young and Clarissa Ross. They had seven children.[6]

He died on 11 Sep 1887 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah [7] and is buried in Salt Lake City Cemetery in Salt Lake City. [8]
