Biography

Sophia Elizabeth Brett was born in July 1857 in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. She was the daughter of Thomas Nelson Brett and Sophia Elizabeth Ross-Lewin.

Her father died when she was 4 and her mother when she was 15.

On 29 December 1874, at the age of 17, Sophia was bathing at Wyaga Station, Goondiwindi, Queensland, Australia and drowned.^[1][2] At the time, Wyaga was owned by Richard and Lavinia Holmes. An inquest was held and the cause of death was established as drowning.^[3]
