When Charles Burgamy Bussey was born on June 29, 1802, in Jasper, Georgia, his father, Benjamin West Bussey, was 27 and his mother, Mary "Polly" Burgamy, was 22. He married Almeda Leverett on January 1, 1822, in Putnam, Georgia. They had ten children in 22 years. He died on September 15, 1867, in Anderson, Texas, at the age of 65.
