He had two siblings, namely: Donald Hugh Alexander Thomas, and Geoffrey McKenzie John. When he was 20, he married Jessie Gwendoline Taylor, daughter of [[Taylor-38200John Thomas Taylor and Jessie Ross McKay, on 20 Aug 1928 in Mittagong, New South Wales, Australia.
