Elizabeth Roe Coleman, the daughter of Robert Coleman and Elizabeth Roe was born 8 Sep 1787 in Fairfield County, South Carolina, United States. She died 1853 (aged 65–66) in Giles County, Tennessee, United States and was buried at Kimbrough Cemetery Campbellsville, Giles County, Tennessee, United States. ^[1]

Elizabeth Roe Coleman was the daughter of Robert R. Coleman, Jr. and Elizabeth Roe. She was married about 1808 to George Leonard Goates in Camden District, Fairfield, South Carolina. They had 11 children. They were: Ann Goats Morris, Delila Goats ( unmarried ), John Leonard Goates, William Allen Goats, Sr., Phillip Goats, Mary "Polly" Goats Tucker, David Coleman Goats, Sr., Susan Elizabeth Goates Adair, Elizabeth Jane Goates Yarborough, James Blueford "Bluff" Goats, and Minerva Catherine Goates Beavers. Elizabeth Roe Coleman Goates is buried in this cemetery (Kimbrough Cemetery) in an unmarked grave. The George Leonard Goates farm located on Dry Weakley Creek Road near Campbellsville, Giles, Tennessee was 220 acres. According to the conditions of the Probate, George Leonard Goates died intestate ( meaning dying without a legal will ) and the farm was to be sold as one piece.
