Mary L. Dowler was about three when her father was killed in a horrific accident. Her mother was unable to recover from the shock and was sent to a mental Institute for the rest of her life.
Mary was taken in by Austin Dow Guiberson and his wife Martha Jane Brittain. By 1920 she was using the name Lucille Guiberson which she used until her marriage.
