On April 26, 1797, Leonard Edelen, another unmarried son of Edward Edelen, purchased from Thomas M. Simpson, of Charles County, a portion of “St. Thomas” for £11. Judith Simpson, wife, waived dower, while the witnesses were Willian D. Briscoe and Walter Dyson. [4]
On May 13, 1799, he conveyed to John B. Wathen of Bennett for a consideration of £2000 portions of “Westwood Manor” and “Assington”. The witness was Daniel Jenifer.; [5]
His will was dated May 28, 1827, and proved June 18, 1827. He devised his nephew Leonard Edelen the house and lot in Montgomery County then in the possession of John P. Knott. The legacy left him by his brother Philip Edelen was bequeathed to John P. Knott, with the residue of the estate going to Elizabeth Edelen.; [6]
