DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:

Any MALE ELMORES please consider taking the YDNA 37 test at FamilyTreeDNA.com and JOIN the ELMORE PROJECT ... The test can allow testers to be grouped via DNA markers whereby they share a common ancestor going back 10 to 20 generations. Per William E Elmores "The Working Papers vol IV", and other research, I was convinced my Christopher Columbus Elmore born circa 1790 was the son of Christopher(one of the 8 Brothers - son of George Thomas Reynolds Elmore). However, I tracked down an Alabama descendant that could definitively trace his lineage back to Charles(one of the Eight Brothers) and convinced him to take the YDNA Y37 test so we could compare markers. As it turned out, there's ZERO PERCENT chance we share an ancestor going beyond 24 generations. I now believe CC Elmores was born William CC Elmore but dropped William later in life and is the son of a William brn 1760-ish & Mary Sarah Rippey ... coincidentally, CCElmore born 1790 has a son William CC Elmore born 1821-ish .. As you can see, the YDNA can definitely help dispel hunches/guesses/assumptions ....

MY HUNCH is this James is William born 1760-ish father or possibly one of Athanatious brothers had a son named James the above funnels up thru ..

Your likely cousin, Lawrence Elmore
