Robert was the son of someone called Thurstan or Turstin, and the father of Thurstan. He is mentioned in the Oxfordshire section of the Domesday Book,[1] holding Rollright and Ludwell, Oxfordshire directly from the King.[2] He served as a royal dispenser, overseeing the distribution of bread and wine to royal servants.[1]
