Alexander Hanna, son of Robert Hanna, was born c.1737 in County Monaghan or Armagh. He emigrated to America in 1771 with his wife and infant son James. They settled in Somerset County.[1]
One source records that Alexander died in 1819,[1] and another that he died on 8 Jul 1809 and is buried in the Crossroads Cemetery, Confluence, Somerset County, Pennsylvania.[2]

The Hanna of Sorbie Castle compilation is unsourced, and it's not clear how reliable it is.
An unsourced submission by "Lawson L. Duckworth for the "Old Petersburg-Addison Historical Society"", recorded on the Somerset Co., PA Genweb sit,e details the "Hanna Family of Petersburg (Addison) Pennsylvania" thus :
Alexander Hanna Sr was born either in Scotland or Ireland in 1737, emigrated to America in 1771 and settled in York Co PA. In 1798, Alexander, and his wife Martha, their four children and three grandchildren moved to Milford Township, Somerset Co PA. Alexander Sr died in 1809 and was buried at the Cross Roads Cemetery near Harnedsville. He was a veteran of the American Revolution.
