William Strother Madison married Elizabeth Preston 08 Jan 1779 in "Smitfield", Montgomery Co., VA ^[1] Marriage Bond: 08 Jan 1779. Bondsman: William Madison and Gabriel Madison. Consent: 07 Jan 1779. William Preston. Witnesses to Consent: John Preston, Francis Preston.^[2]

William Madison was a Justice and Sheriff of Botetourt County, Virgina and Surveyor of Washington County, Virginia. He died of smallpox contracted in military service.

Mollatto, Margaret Campbellhttps://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Campbell-61493, born say 1750, was the mother of "Mulatto Bastard children" Hannah and James who were bound out by the Botetourt County court to William Madison on 11 February 1779. And on 11 March 1784 the court ordered her "Mulatto" children Will, Hannah and James bound to Elizabeth Madison [Orders 1776-80, 152; 1780-4, 463]. ^[3]
