Christina Ann Pollard was born in Smeaton in 1892.
Christina Pollard married John Rush in Victoria in 1912[1]
She was a widow when she died in Kensington suburb of Melbourne Victoria in 1973[2] Her parents’ names were given as Frederick (sic) Pollard and Katherine (sic) Dwyer.[3]
Christina’s birth index record shows that she was born in Smeaton in 1892 to Elizabeth Pollard with the father shown as unknown [4]
It is possible that Christina was the illegitimate child of Elizabeth Jane Pollard , the eldest daughter of Philip William Pollard and Catherine Dwyer, and that she was likely raised as the daughter of Philip and Catherine, Elizabeth Jane's parents. This would account for Christina being identified in Catherine Dwyer’s death notice as one of her children, and for Catherine Dwyer being recorded as Christina's mother on her death index entry (Vic BDM 13328 / 1973).
It also fits with the fact that Catherine Dwyer had six children regularly between 1875 and 1885, but then a 7-year gap until Christina was born. Elizabeth Jane would have been about 17 years old when Christina was born, which also fits with her being an unmarried mother.
Christine Anna Rush mentioned in her mother's obituary notice [5]
