Biography

Jane Preece was born in 1844 in Treoes, Glamorgan, Wales and was baptized on 2 September 1844 at St Canna, Llangan, Glamorganshire, Wales. ^[1] , daughter of Richard & Mary Preece.^[2] Her father worked as a shoemaker.

In 1851, Jane lived with her uncle Evan Richard, and his wife Mary.^[3] In 1861, she lived with her 98-year-old grandfather William Preece, with several uncles, aunt, and sister.^[4]

Jane Preece, (22), a Spinster, married William John (22) on 16 September 1866 at Canton in the parish of Llandaff, Glamorganshire, Wales.^[5] The Bride's father was Richard Preece who worked as a shoemaker.

Jane John's death (age 92) was registered in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1937 in the Blaby district.^[6]

Research Notes

the findagrave memorial is for a different John family. William died in 1922 as he was alive in 1921 census with Jane and some of their children. this gives a gravestone transcription^[7]
