When Carl Melvin Snyder was born on December 21, 1907, in Morrisville, Ohio, his father, Robert Marion Snyder, was 35 and his mother, Martha Jane McGlaughlin, was 30. Carl served his country in World War II, in the US Army from 18 Jan 1942 to 3 Feb 1945. He married Gertrude Cox on May 28, 1945, in Lawton, Oklahoma. They had one child during their marriage. He died on August 7, 1970, in Enola, Pennsylvania, at the age of 62, and was buried in Mt Olivet Cemetery in Fairview, York, Pennsylvania.
