1850 Matilda and William are living in Jefferson Township, Owen County, Indiana, and they have four children -- Elvin, David, Saluda and John. We have to assume that Martha, who was born in 1844, must have died before the 1850 census.[3]
1870 Matilda and William are living in Iowa with nine of their 12 children.[4]
1880 Matilda is listed as "Rubecca" in the 1880 Census. She and William are living in Timber Creek, Iowa. Six of their children are still living with them: Matilda J, Elvira M, "Ella" (Ardelia/Ardella), "Alkana" (Elkanah), John W and "Frank" (William Frank).[5]
