Biography

Jane Spencer, daughter of Sir John Spencer of Althorp, England by his wife Isabel Graunt of Snitterfield, Warwickshire, married Richard Knightley (1484-1538).^[1]

They had five daughters: Jane, Susan, Anne, Mary and Frances.^[2] Anne Knightley married 1stly George Throckmorton, and 2ndly Thomas Porter of Ettington, Warwickshire,^[1] and 3rd William Cissell of Maismore, Gloucester.^[2]

The will of Richard Knightley, who died 30 March 1538, indicates his wife (Jane Spencer) was still living at the time the will was proved (14 July 1540). [PROB 11/28/156] Canning-229 18:51, 23 December 2014 (EST)

After Richard died, Jane remarried Robert Stafford, son of Sir Humphrey Stafford.^[2]
