Birth

Sarah Rachel Taylor[1][2][3][4] was born about 1704 in Bristol Parish, Henrico County, Virginia.[5][6][7]

Marriages

Sarah Rachel was married to Robert Moseley[5] in 1725 in Henrico County, Virginia.[8]

They had supposedly 10 children, however a previous profile manager has commented it is unlikely given the marriage lasted 9 years unless some children were from another marriage. They also probably lived in Henrico/Goochland County, Virginia according to the profile manager previously. Five children appear below:

  1. Arthur Moseley (1726-1808)
  2. Robert Peter Moseley
  3. Sarah (Moseley) Thomas (14 Feb 1732-30 Jan 1804)
  4. Ann (Mosley) Jeter
  5. Francis Moseley (1729-1783)

Residences

Robert Moseley's will was dated 12 April 1734 in Henrico Parish, & was recorded in Henrico County, Virginia, June 1734, naming wife Sarah, and three sons, Francis (by a previous wife), Arthur and Robert (Sarah's sons). Sarah got the remainder of the estate after specific bequests were made to the sons & she was the executrix.

In the Henrico Co. Court Orders 1737-46, p 64, in the Feb 1738/9 court meeting, Arthur Moseley chose Thomas Moseley (brother of father Robert) as his guardian, and Robert Moseley chose William Moseley (also a brother of his father Robert) as his guardian. We believe the event prompting this was possibly Sarah's death. On p 296 of this same volume, William & Arther Moseley appeared before the Feb. 1744/5 court to charge the widow of their grandfather Arthur Moseley, Martha, & her husband Edward Friend, of wasting their grandfather's estate. In 1748, Arthur Moseley is in King William Parish of Goochland Co., & sells 150 acres of land that belonged to his father Robert to Christoper Bass of Dale Parish, Henrico Co., for 20 pounds.

Death

Sarah Rachel (Taylor) Moseley died in 1789 in Buckingham County, Virginia, United States.

Taylor-13812 and Taylor-81715 appear to represent the same person because: During a GEDCOM match this came up as a possible match to these two people. Seems she married both men Bondurant and and Mosley. Birth date may be off a little, but same death date and place.

One profile has mother and no father and the other a father and no mother.

This needs a CAREFULL look to see if it is possible she married both men and her set of parents need to be brought together!

In the second paragraph of the biography, I believe a typographical error has occurred, or the statement belongs to another couple. Sarah Rachel Taylor was born in the early 18th century, but the quotation shows her married in 1836. She is said to have married John Peter Bondurant in 1736.

Also, her father was not plain Francis Taylor. He might have been Thomas Francis Taylor. Thomas Taylor left a will written 26 Jan 1722, recorded May 4, 1724, and re-recorded Sep 3 1798, because the original was desroyed by the enemy. Henrico County, Va. will Book # 2, 1787-1802, p.454: Will of Thomas Taylor of Henrico Parish, Planter. He left no wife's name, but gave property to his daughter, Elizabeth Perkins, Sarah Taylor and Mary Taylor his daughters. His daughter Mary left a legacy to her sister Sarah Moseley, in her will proved Apr 3 1727 Henrico county, mentions "my sister Sarah Moseley". It was witnessed by John Hancock who also witnessed the will of Robert Moseley, husband of Sarah Taylor. The biography doesn't agree with her profile information above it, as the profile shows her father as Thomas Taylor.

Her birthplace is incorrect. It should be Henrico County, VA. Goochland Co. did not exist yet. Also, their son Darby Bondurant could not have been born in Buckingham County, VA as it didn't exist until 1761. Will one of the profile managers please make these corrections if they agree with them?

Taylor-41569 and Taylor-13812 appear to represent the same person because: 41569 should be married to Moseley-241, died 1734, but has been abducted by another Robert, more likely a cousin than a duplicate.

Bondurant is said to have married Moseley's widow.
