Christina (Therre) Gerber was a Volga German.

Christina There, born 12 May 1829, Herzog, (Susly), Russia,[1] she was in the 1857 census record of Graf, (Krutoyarovka) Russia, so died after 1857 in Russia according to son Henry Gerber she died aft 1876. Christina's parents are: Johannes There (1797-aft 1857) and Magdalena Dreiling (1804-aft 1857). [2] [3]

Christina's last name has also been spelled: There/Doerr/Tire/Thery/Therre Information on Christina Terre is from Henry Gerber's death certificate, and also St. Fidelis church records. Also the Census records from Graf, Russia. Herzog Russia Census records identify her family spelled 'There'.[4]

On the Surname Index to 1767 Census there are Thiel/Tihl/Tiehl/Tire/Dorr/Derr 1857, name spelled 'Tere' [5]

12 December 1834, Herzog, Russia Census: Christina There, birth 1829, she had one brother and four sisters in 1834. Her parents had two more children. [6]

Christina There married Anton Gerber on 29 October 1845 in Graf, Russia, [7]and had two children by the 1850 census record. [8]

1857, in the household of #58, August Gerber has died in 1856, Elisabeth Gerber is 79, her son Anton Gerber age 61 with his wife Walpurga Niederquell age 56, they had their son Anton Gerber age 31 with her wife Christina There age 28, living with them, Anton and Christina had five children. [9]

  2. Barbara Gerber born 29 November 1847, died from fever on 18 December 1864, age 17
  3. Peter Gerber born 15 March 1850, at the age of 18 married Barbara Bach age 18 on 21 November 1867, the daughter of Joseph Bach and Maria Anna Zimmerman
  4. Anna Gerber born 24 May 1852, died of body aches on 2 November 1864, age 13
  5. Anton Gerber born 1 April 1854, died from fever on 3 November 1864, age 10
  6. Heinrich Anton Gerber born 6 August 1856, died 1937, married Mary Magdalena Kuhn (Note: 4 July 1856 has been given as his birth date.)
  7. Marianna Gerber born 14 September 1858

Research Notes

The granddaughter of Henry Gerber remembers him saying that his mother Christina and brother Peter, had been separated from him at the dock in the year 1876, and that he never saw them again. [10]
