Catherine Windecker was born April 5, 1755, in in Albany county, New York (present day Montgomery county) a daughter of Johan Georg Windecker and Anna Elizabeth (Walrath) Windecker. [1] Catherine married Sergeant John Jacob Diefendorf. [2]
Catherine died January 30, 1826 and is buried in the "John Jac Diefendorf Family Burial Ground" in Montgomery county, New York. Her Find A Grave memorial spells her name "Kathrine" [3]
Tryon County was created from Albany County on March 24, 1772, and was named for William Tryon, the last provincial governor of New York.
