"Henry Duke, Councilor", by Walter Garland Duke. Through the marriage of Amy Cosby to Clevears Duke, their descendants inherit her linage from 12 of the sureties of the Magna Charta, the Charter of English Liberties which were wrested from King John of England [1199-1216] at Runnemede. In like manner they inherit the direct linage from Adam and Noah [in common with the whole human race], and from the Irish and Scottish Kings and the Saxon, Norman, Danish, Norse, French, Spanish, Flemish, Italian, and German Royal Houses, the Counts of Anjou, and The Caesars of Rome.
One of the executors of the will of John Cosby was Cleavers Duke. John Cosby also made bequests to grandsons Cosby Duke and James Duke.
Amy was born in 1718. She passed away before 3 Jan 1757 as Clevears Duke's 2nd wife Barbara (unknown) Duke was one of the witnesses to the will of John Moss (Louisa County, VA WB 1, page 42). [1]
