Biography

Genealogically Defined

Benjamin was born about 1812 at Codsall, Staffordshire, England [1][2][3] and baptised on the 20th December 1812 at St. Nicholas, Codsall, Staffordshire, England, the son of Thomas Powell and Lucy Powell of Codsall[4].

Benjamin, a bachelor, married Elizabeth Stringer, a spinster, on the 26th June 1837 at St. George, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England. Witnessed by Mary Jones and Michael Mansell[5][6]

Benjamin's wife Elizabeth died about 28th December 1747 to January 1848[7] at Codsall, Staffordshire, probably during childbirth and was buried on the 4th January 1848 at St. Nicholas, Codsall, Staffordshire, England, [8].

By 1851, Benjamin's surviving children were likely living with extended family. His daughter Emma was living with her aunt Sarah Perry nee Powell.

By 1861 Benjamin was apparently married to Ann[2]

He passed away aged 62 years in 1874 at Wolverhampton, Staffordshire[9] and was buried on the 3rd of February 1874 at St. Nicholas, Codsall, Staffordshire, England[10].
