This category is a personal maintenance category that identifies profiles that need research to identify all spouses and have their profiles created from known sources.

General work process:

  1. Identify first marriage by looking for certificate that says whether they were ever married (not always present)
  2. If not available, look for transition from living with parents to living with their first spouse in census and other data. Note gaps in Research Notes until none are found
  3. Look for ending of union records (e.g. divorce) and note on profile.
  4. look for marriage status in all census and other records for all occurrences in their lifespan to see if they remained single after or married again
  5. Look for birth records of children in or out of other marriages
  6. look for death records of self and spouse, to see if gaps existed where other spouses could have occurred
  7. Only remove if all are accounted for within reason
