granted to ex-soldier Jürgen Hanekom (from Rathlosen [near Sulingen, Germany]) who signs his name "Jors hannekoom" & "Jürgen hannekom" - woodcutter (1708-12), corporal (1713), later burgher, resident on farm "De Natte Valley" at Drakenstein; marries (11 November 1717) Johanna van den Bosch, wid. Johannes Bockelberg & Maurits van Staden; 4 children

property of De Villiers family - main homestead built (1775) - classic “H” shape design with a florid gable

1839

obtained by Adriaan Jacobus van der Bijl - opstal partially destroyed by fire but damaged woodwork restored (1840) & gable replaced with neo-classical design (dated 1840)
