See also Pvt. Elam N. Alexander Bio: Regarding his military service during the American Civil War, Elam N. Alexander, a resident of Terrell County, Georgia, enlisted as a Private on October 30, 1862. He was initially assigned to Company D of the 25th Battalion Georgia Provost Guard. Subsequently, on April 6, 1863, he was transferred to Company E of the 5th Georgia Infantry, where he continued his service.

Tragically, Private Alexander was captured as a Prisoner of War at Cass Station, Georgia, on May 19, 1864. He passed away while in captivity at Rock Island, Illinois, on June 19, 1864.
