State of Pennsylvania, Chester County SS.
On this 15th day of May A.D. 1866 before Prothonotary of the Court of Common Pleas in and for the county & State above named personally appeared Mrs. Rebecca Clark widow of Andrew Clark late of Co[mpany] "B" [researcher note: actually Co. D] of the 54th Mass[achusetts] Vol[unteer]s deceased, who being duly affirmed according to law declared and says that in her claim for Widow's Army Pension no she is unable to furnish, as proof of marriage -
1st "a copy of the church or other public record, verified by the affidavit of the proper custodian thereof", because no such record of her marriage is in existence.
