Transcription 1 of X:
have been in the 55th Regiment for what I know. When I went to Boston the 54th Regiment was pretty well filled up - and most of the recruits were put in the 55th Regiment. I might have been in the 55th Regiment. I know I was a soldier all right - but I could not tell to save my life whether I was in the 54 or 55 Regiment Massachusetts Colored Infantry - but I know I was in one or the other of those Regiments. I have heard this read over have understood the questions and my answers have been correctly written herein. I have been signing my name as James H. Jackson for pension but my correct name is just James Jackson.
