Infantry, but were in the brigade with them.

I was sick and absent at time of the battle of Honey Hill, South Carolina in November 1864.

I don't recall any Jackson of Company D 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Colored Infantry either James, Henry, or William, James H., William H., or plain William or Henry Jackson.

We had no one from Canada that I know of but Sergeant Pinckney who claimed to be from Canada but there may have been others from there. As I came to this home by August 29,1902 I never knew claimant James H. Jackson while he was here.

Nothing in his statement brings to my memory the man as in Company D 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry (Colored)
